Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
Very last thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors accepted contributing $43,900 to the Town of Marinette toward the order of a new 24 ft search and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be equipped to use the airboat. Having said that, at yesterday’s County Board conference a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for acquire of the Airboat. Considering that the Metropolis of Marinette has not long ago allotted $500 for each staff for COVID-19 vaccinations applying ARPA money when they could have used their ARPA funds in direction of the funding of the airboat instead of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre claims, “the City of Marinette acquired $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller claims, “there is a purpose why the city is on the lookout for participation in the getting of the airboat.”
Following a lengthy dialogue, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The envisioned shipping day of the airboat is mid-January.
