Scarbrough named one of Automotive News’ 40 Under 40 | Local NewsBy Jessica E. Fox 11 months ago
A local woman has been recognized nationally as a standout young professional in her field.
Jennifer Swope Scarbrough, general manager of Swope Hyundai-Genesis in Elizabethtown, was named one of Automotive News‘ 40 Under 40. This annual program honors 40 high achievers at new-car dealerships who are younger than 40 years old, according to a news release from the Swope Family of Dealerships.
“It’s a special day when you wake up and open your weekly copy of Automotive News and your 35-year-old daughter is on the front page being honored as an exceptional leader in the automobile industry,” said Carl Swope, Jennifer’s father and CEO of the Swope Family of Dealerships. “We are so very proud of Jennifer and all she has accomplished in her life.”
Scarbrough is a third-generation executive at Swope Family of Dealerships. She follows in the legacy of grandfather Bill and great-uncle Sam Swope, who established the auto dealership in 1952.
What began with one automotive franchise and two gas pumps now is 10 brands being led by the second and third Swope generations. They represent Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Nissan and Genesis brands with six dealerships located in Elizabethtown and Radcliff, most of which are located side-by-side on a one-mile stretch of Dixie Highway that Bill Swope coined the “Miracle Mile” in the mid-1960s.
Scarbrough follows her father, Carl, and uncle, Bob, in the Swope dealership legacy.
According to the release, Automotive News received nominations from across the U.S. and identified outstanding performers in a large field of high-quality talent at dealerships. With a broad range of titles and backgrounds, this year’s list represents a diverse group of honorees, who were profiled in the July 11 issue.
“The 40 Under 40 program honors dealership employees who display exceptional leadership skills and are top performers,” said Amy Wilson, retail editor of Automotive News. “The men and women on our 11th annual list have demonstrated significant business achievements, and their dealership groups are all the stronger for it.”
