Hon Young Semiconductor, a foundry subsidiary of Hon Hai Technological know-how Group (Foxconn), has received orders for automotive MOSFETs from Highly developed Energy Electronics, according to business resources.

Superior Electricity is partnering with Hon Younger to deepen its deployment in the automotive MOSFET section, said the sources, including that the pair will focus on applications these as electric buses.

Superior Power is also on the lookout to prolong its partnership with Hon Younger to contain the manufacture of third-technology semiconductors, such as silicon carbide (SiC) elements, the sources indicated.

As an affiliate of XSemi, a joint venture involving Foxconn and Yageo, Superior Ability is believed to be included in Foxconn’s EV ecosystem, the resources said.

Innovative Energy is on keep track of to submit on-calendar year earnings development in 2022, in spite of weak spot in demand from customers for PCs and other consumer electronics units, according to market watchers. The MOSFET company has reportedly acquired orders for significant-end electric power supplies, and carries on to increase gross sales of its mid- to higher-voltage MOSFET chips for applications such as servers.

Previously a 6-inch wafer plant of ROM and flash chipmaker Macronix Worldwide, Hon Young was launched immediately after the completion of Foxconn’s NT$2.52 billion (US$84 million) acquisition of the plant in 2021. “The acquisition of the 6-inch wafer fab in Hsinchu Science Park formally indicators Foxconn’s entry into the manufacture and progress of huge band gap semiconductors, particularly SiC,” explained Foxconn chairman and CEO Young-way Liu in a joint assertion on the plant sale.
