Range Rover Vogue Review

The Land Rover was introduced in 1947. However, it was1970 when the idea of a vehicle arose that delivered comfort, excitement and sophistication at the same time. It took a long time to perfect the idea but the results were spectacular. Although the first generation was merely provided with a rug to make it look premium. However, this vehicle has come a long way.

Range Rover MK4 is the 4th generation of the revered icon of British motoring. Range Rover kept raising the bar with each generation in terms of luxury, sophistication and comfort.  It is styled smartly and is provided with the most technology than ever. This is the generation of Range Rover that debuted a new aluminium monocoque instead of the ladder chassis. It helped the vehicle to expand in size while staying lighter than the previous generation which was a great feat.  This generation is unbeatable when it comes to combining on-road cruising with off-road capability. This was the generation that changed the expectations of the public from this luxury SUV. Such is the authority of this generation’s Range Rover that is often imitated but has barely been bettered or equalled.

Robust and Powerful Powertrain

Range Rover was provided with the top-of-the-range and most advanced engine options. There are petrol, diesel and hybrid options. All engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

According to BM Engine Works, which specialises in replacement Range Rover engines in the UK, the engines in Vogue MKR are quite reliable.

The range starts with a 2.0 Ingenium Plug-in Hybrid petrol engine. The engine produces a combined power of 398 hp and 640 Nm of torque with 0-60 times of 6.8 seconds and a top speed reaching 137 mph.  Then comes the petrol range which starts from a 3.0-litres producing 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque. 0-60 mph is achieved in 7.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.  a step up from this is the same displacement of 3.0-litres producing 375 hp and 450 Nm of torque the acceleration time is 6.9 seconds and the top speed is 130 mph.

Then comes the power range with a displacement of 5.0-litres producing 370 hp and 510 Nm with 6.5 seconds for acceleration and 130 top speed. Another 5.0-litre supercharged engine produces 503 hp and 625 Nm of torque. Acceleration time is 5.1 seconds and top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph. a more powerful 5.0-litre engine produces 557 hp and 700 Nm with an acceleration time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 176 mph.

There are diesel variants that start from 3.0-litres and produce 254 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Acceleration time is 7.4 seconds and top speed is capped at 130 mph. the same displacement diesel variants go up to 335 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Acceleration time can go up to 6.5 seconds and top speed at 135. Lastly, a special version of 4.4-Liters produces 335 hp and 740 Nm of torque. It takes 6.9 seconds to reach from 0-60 mph and the top speed is limited to 135 mph.

Majestic Exterior

Just a glance at the 4th generation Range Rover and it’s clear as daylight that it is one of the most premium brands available. The exterior is the gateway to the overall quality that this vehicle represents. It is smartly styled and represents a sleek and aerodynamic shape. Fins on the side profile add more drama and clean and minimal lines make it simple and elegant. The front grill looks great and is very functional as well. Reclined roofline and split tailgate hint at the Land Rover pedigree. You get rain-sensing wipers, 20-inch alloys, folding door mirrors and in some variants, a sliding sunroof. You get futuristic front lights that change the angle with the steering movement and high-powered tail lights.

Plush Interior

The interior of the Range Rover can easily be mistaken for a limousine. The introduction of a new monocoque body ensures that there is plenty of leg and headroom available for both driver and passengers. If you are willing to pay for extra options then you are in for a pleasant surprise. You get individual chairs with 40 degrees of recline and a powered centre console. You are also treated with three-zone ambient lighting and powerful multimedia stereo options.

There are plenty of touchscreens available that provide various functions including many driver aids and infotainment systems. The top screen looks after the entertainment, navigation and other features that help the driver and the bottom one deals with the climate, terrain response and other functions. The steering wheel gives you many features at your fingertips. As far as the space is concerned, this vehicle can be considered spacious to keep your luggage in the boot.

Handling and Ride Comfort

Range Rover went to lengths to ensure handling and ride comfort like no other brand. Electronic cross-linked air suspension with variable ride height keeps the handling sharp and concise. There is an automated load levelling mechanism that prevents the body roll.

Adaptive dynamics continuously analyse vehicle movements over 500 times per second, reacting to road conditions and driver actions. Range Rover’s terrain response feature monitors ground conditions to determine the most appropriate response to the terrain and automatically optimises vehicle settings.

Final Verdict

Range Rover is not a vehicle for the faint-hearted. You have to have deep pockets, a huge heart, a free-spending budget, and ideally, your petrol station. It is also worth keeping in mind that it sheds thousands in the coming years as well. However, there is hardly any other vehicle that provides you with the sort of brand value, luxury, sophistication, ride comfort and effortless off-roading experience. You get a sense of occasion every time you drive this vehicle. If it is a certainty that you cannot afford a Range Rover on a tight budget then it is written on the wall as well that no other vehicle comes close to the value for money as this vehicle provides. In case you are looking to replace the engine in your Range Rover then BM Engine Works can be a great help as they stock all variants of used and reconditioned engines and provide an excellent engine fitting facility.
